It is easily hygroscopic and deliquated in the air, absorbing carbon dioxide to produce potassium carbonate. Soluble in 0.9 parts water, 0.6 parts boiling water, 3 parts ethanol, 2.5 parts glycerol, while releasing a lot of heat. Insoluble in ether. 0. pH of Imol/L aqueous solution is 13.5. Non-combustible, highly corrosive. In contact with water and steam, a large amount of heat is released, forming a corrosive solution. Neutralizing reaction with acid and exothermic.
Use
Analysis reagents, bismuth, cadmium, lithium and other trace analysis. It is used as an absorber of carbon dioxide and water, as a saponification agent, and in the pharmaceutical industry.
