Nature
At room temperature and pressure, it is a colorless transparent volatile liquid. Volatile, can be miscible with ethanol, ether, acetone, chloroform, glacial acetic acid, carbon disulfide, carbon tetrachloride and oil and other organic solvents. Soluble in water: 23.5ºC, 0.188%cw/w). Benzene is a compound that does not break down easily. Its vapor can form an explosive mixture with air. Encountering high heat or open flame is extremely easy to cause combustion and explosion. Easy to generate and accumulate static electricity. Intense reaction in contact with oxidant.
Use
A standard sample for the determination of refractive index. It can be used as a solvent and cleaning agent for precision optical instruments, electronics industry, organic synthesis, etc.
