Product Description

Tetrahydrofuran, abbreviated THF, is a heterocyclic organic compound. It belongs to the ether class and is the complete hydrogenation product of the aromatic compound furan.
(1) THF is an important organic synthesis raw material and is a solvent with excellent performance, known as "universal solvent", it has excellent solubility for many organic and inorganic substances, dissolving all compounds except polyethylene, polypropylene and fluorine resin, especially suitable for dissolving butaniline, polyvinyl chloride, polyvinylidene chloride. It is widely used as a solvent for surface coatings, anti-corrosion coatings, printing inks, tape and film coatings, and as a reaction solvent, which can control the thickness and brightness of aluminum layer arbitrarily when electroplating aluminum liquid.
(2) In the field of medicine, THF is used as a raw material for the synthesis of lobutin, ribulimycin, progesterone and some hormone drugs.
(3) THF is treated with hydrogen sulfide to produce tetrahydrothiophenol, which is also used as odor agent (identification additive) in fuel gas.
