Preparation
Chloroacetic acid and ethanol were directly esterified with sulfuric acid as catalyst. The crude ester is neutralized, washed and distilled by alkali washing.
Use
It is used as solvent and organic synthetic material for the preparation of antitumor drug 5-fluorouracil, fragrance and poison gas.
