Nature
Colorless clear smoking liquid. The melting point was -112 ºC and the boiling point was 76ºC. Soluble in benzene, ether, chloroform, carbon tetrachloride. In humid air, it can be hydrolyzed into phosphorous acid and hydrogen chloride, resulting in white smoke. Water and ethanol decomposition reaction, contact with organic matter will catch fire, corrosive. It breaks down violently in contact with water, producing a lot of heat and smoke, and even explosions
Use
Used as semiconductor dopant and raw material of high purity phosphorus. In the whole process of circuit production, the quality of phosphorus trichloride plays an important role in controlling contamination and improving the yield of integrated circuit.
