Audited Supplier Phenol is an important organic chemical raw material, mainly used in the manufacture of phenolic resin, bisphenol A, pesticide fungicide salicylic acid, herbicide 2, 4-D, explosive picric acid and so on. In addition, this product is also the manufacture of nylon, epoxy resin, paint, paint, fragrance, synthetic detergent and plasticizer and other raw materials. Phenol referred to as phenol, commonly known as carbolic acid, is a weak acid, with acid universality. The acidity of phenol is very weak, the carbonic acid is weak, and the acid-base indicator cannot be faded. The molecule of phenol contains the hydroxyl group (OH), and the compounds directly connected with the benzene ring are called phenols. Common phenols are: o-cresol, m-cresol, p-cresol, m-diphenol, p-diphenol. The chemical properties of phenol are more active, and gradually become reddish crystals in the air or in the presence of unclean substances. Has a special smell, toxic, strong corrosive. In wet air, it can absorb moisture in the air from the Chemicalbook line and gradually liquefy. Slightly soluble in water, soluble in benzene and alkaline solution, easily soluble in ethanol, ether, chloroform, glycerol and other organic solvents. Phenol is weakly acidic, reacts with base to form salt, and appears blue in ferric chloride solution. Coal tar, once the main source of phenol, can be extracted from sodium hydroxide solution. With the development of industry, natural products have been in short supply, and by the 1930s, the production of synthetic phenol has exceeded that of natural products. The earliest method of sulfonation in industrial production is to melt sodium benzenesulfonate with sodium hydroxide to produce sodium salt of phenol, which is then treated with acid. This method is troublesome to operate, but the requirements for equipment are not strict, and the yield is high. In recent years, chlorobenzene hydrolysis and isopropylbenzene oxidation are the main methods used in industry. The by-product acetone obtained from the latter is also an important industrial raw material, so the economic value of this method is greater, but the equipment and technical requirements are stricter.
