Trimellitic acid was produced by liquid phase air oxidation in acetic acid solution using cobalt acetate and manganese acetate as catalysts, then it was heated and melted, dehydrated to produce trimellitic anhydride, and the finished product was obtained by distillation under pressure and crystallization by sublimation.
